Fabric on a China listing is climate and laundry, not a textile exam. Polyester, cotton, and blends behave differently in Lagos heat, in a bucket wash, and under harmattan dust. A 1688 line that translation calls “cotton” may be a cotton-feel polyester. Your skin will notice before your pride does. This guide is for people who will wear the piece in Nigeria after a 2 to 4 week wait, paying naira on ShopFluxx.

How to read fabric lines on 1688

Screenshot the Chinese composition line, not only the English overlay. Percentages matter: 95% polyester / 5% spandex is a different dress from 100% cotton voile. “Cotton linen” in plugin English is often a blend with little linen. If the line is missing, treat the listing as incomplete. Send the screenshot with the URL: send 1688 link. Translation risk: translate safely. 1688 hub: Shop from 1688.

Catalog pages on Shop should show composition when we have it. If a product is thin on fabrics, ask Contact before Paystack. Catalog vs link: Catalog vs 1688 Link. How It Works: How It Works.

Feel words (silk-like, ice cotton, milk silk) are marketing. Ice cotton is usually polyester knit. It can be cool to the touch and still trap sweat. Believe percentages over poetry.

Heat and sweat in Nigeria

100% polyester fashion can look sharp and still feel like a bag in 2pm Ikeja. Linings double the problem. If you commute, prefer lighter weaves, some cotton or viscose in the blend, or gym-style knits you already know you can sweat in. Harmattan is dry, not a European winter: harmattan layering.

Cotton breathes and wrinkles. It also shrinks if you boil it in a pot like a rumour. Blends (poly-cotton) are the usual China fashion compromise: less wrinkle, less breath. Neither is a crime. Match the fabric to the hour you will wear it, not to a Pinterest moodboard.

Dark polyester in sun can feel hotter. White cheap polyester can go transparent when sweaty. Gym opacity is its own post. Clothing still uses the same warning: if the 1688 photo is studio-backlit, assume the worst in daylight.

Pilling and wash tests

You will not lab-test pilling from Nigeria. You can look for cheap fleece that already pills in the listing close-up. You can ask whether the piece is a knit that will fuzz on a bag strap. Bucket wash in cold water, mild soap, hang shade. Hot iron on unknown polyester is how you glaze a shine you did not want.

We do not promise a wash-test video on every SKU. Hub QC is not a laundry. Lagos hub: Lagos hub. Delivery: Delivery. 2 to 4 weeks: week by week.

If you need a piece for a naming ceremony that must not pill on camera, say so in the 1688 packet and pick tighter weaves, not fuzzy knits. Measure too: how to measure.

Blends that behave

Poly-cotton shirts for office AC can be a sane import. Cotton-rich dresses for outdoor Sunday can be sanier than a lined polyester sheath. Small spandex in a dress helps ease; it does not turn a 12cm size miss into a fit. Rayon/viscose blends drape and can cling when wet from rain. Read rain in the weather post before you order a pale clingy midi in April.

Wool-look jackets for harmattan are often acrylic or poly. That can be fine if you want a layer, not a Scottish coat. Weight and lining sit in the harmattan article. Do not import a ski parka for Lagos because the listing said winter.

Write: composition screenshot, “I will wear this in Lagos heat / rain / harmattan,” and whether you hate cling or wrinkle more. We still cannot rewrite the mill. We can refuse a listing that is only adjectives. Pay naira: pay in naira. Paystack: Paystack. FAQ: FAQ. About: About. First order: first order.

Phone Accessories is empty. Fabric talk here is clothing, not phone-case rubber.

A simple wear map: office AC and a short outdoor walk, poly-cotton or a light poly blouse can be fine. All-day outdoor market, cotton-rich or a knit you already sweat in. Owambe under lights, polyester that photographs and does not need to breathe for six hours may be the point. Harmattan morning layer, tighter weave, not a fluffy pill magnet. Rain months, viscose cling and pale unlined midis are a known risk.

If the 1688 seller lists two compositions on two colourways, send which colour. Do not assume black is the same mill as white. Price tables often hide that: read 1688 prices. How to buy: buy from 1688.

Resellers: put composition on your own product caption. “China dress” is not a fabric. Your customer in Port Harcourt will still sweat. If you do not know the percentage, do not invent cotton to close a sale. Ask us to read the Chinese line before you screenshot the naira quote into Instagram.

Static cling, odour hold, and iron shine are the three polyester complaints we hear after unboxing. None of them is a fake-agent story. Wash, hang, go easy on heat. If you need a no-iron travel shirt, polyester can be the feature. If you need a naming-ceremony cotton feel, do not buy ice-cotton knit and argue in week 4.

Thread count theatre from bedding blogs does not apply here. You want a composition line, a weight feel from photos (sheer vs opaque), and an honest climate. If the dress is unlined and pale, hold it up to the 1688 video brightness. If there is no video, assume Lagos daylight is harsher than the studio.

Gym: nylon/spandex is a different conversation (sweat, opacity, squat). Do not copy this fashion-polyester advice onto a sports bra. Hair and jewelry are not fabric. Phone Accessories remains empty.

If you already know a China mill’s fabric from a previous ShopFluxx order, say the old order ID. Repeat fabric is the only shortcut that beats a new 1688 adjective poem.

ShopFluxx helps people in Nigeria import from China. Read the percentage line. Match it to heat, wash, and the event, then wait the freight. Related: without the stress, bags material: PU vs leather.

FAQ

Is polyester always bad in Nigeria?

No. It dries faster, wrinkles less, and can be the right party fabric. It can be the wrong all-day commute fabric.

Will ShopFluxx swap to cotton if I hate polyester?

Only if another SKU exists and you approve. We will not relabel a poly dress as cotton.

The listing says 100% cotton at a toy price.

Believe the price until the Chinese line and photos agree. Send screenshots.

Can I machine-wash everything from China?

Not if the care line says otherwise. When missing, wash gentle and hang.

Does linen from 1688 stay linen after translation?

Often not. Screenshot Chinese. Expect blends.

Gym wear vs fashion polyester?

Gym knits are built to stretch and sweat. A fashion poly lining is not the same knit. See the gym post for nylon/spandex.
